Transfer an existing health and beauty business registration

Hairdressers and/or make-up artists

If your business only offers hairdressing and/or temporary make-up services, your ongoing registration cannot be transferred.  Ongoing registration is only valid if:

  • you remain the proprietor of the business
  • the business remains at the same address

Medium and High-Risk Businesses

High-risk premises offer services such as:

  • tattooing
  • piercings (e.g. ear, body or other skin penetration procedures
  • permanent or semi-permanent makeup (cosmetic tattooing)

Medium risk premises do not offer any skin penetration service. They offer services such as:

  • manicures, pedicures, other nail treatments
  • facial or body treatments
  • foot spa treatments

Registration for medium and high-risk health/beauty businesses can be transferred under the Public Health and Wellbeing legislation.

What happens next

  • We will inspect your proposed health and beauty business to make sure it is satisfactory.
  • If the inspection is satisfactory, we will complete the registration within 5 working days.
