Councillor Gift Declaration Register

The Councillor Gift Declaration Register is an essential tool designed to promote transparency and accountability within local government. It serves as a record of all declared gifts received by councillors at Casey in the course of their official duties. The register ensures that councillors' actions remain impartial and that their integrity is maintained.

What Constitutes a Gift?

A gift can be defined as anything of value that is received by a councillor. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Monetary gifts
  • Hospitality, such as meals or accommodation
  • Tickets to events
  • Promotional items
  • Discounts or special offers not available to the general public

It is important to note that gifts can come from various sources, including individuals, organisations, businesses, and even other government bodies. The current limit on gifts and hospitality is capped at $20. Anything above $20 must be declared. All monetary gifts must be declared and declined irrespective of value.
