Under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, businesses that offer the following types of services need to register with Council:
- Hairdressing
- Tattooing
- Ear piercing
- Hair removal (e.g. by waxing)
- Manicures/pedicures
- Colonic irrigation

Furthermore, to assist businesses comply with the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, the Department of Health website provides useful infection prevention and control information specific to the industry.
Registration fees

| Low risk | Hairdressing and/or temporary make-up. This type of registration is a once-off payment. | $427 |
| Medium risk | Manicures, foot spa treatments, facial or body treatments, hair removal, etc. Annual registration renewal is required. | $415 first year |
| High risk | Tattooing, body and ear piercing, colonic irrigation, electrolysis, etc. Annual registration renewal is required. | $479 first year |
