Have your say on Council’s proposed Governance Rules

The City of Casey is proposing some further changes to our Governance Rules, but before the rules are finalised, we’re seeking feedback from the community.

Council adopted some initial changes to the Governance Rules on 30 August 2022 that related to allowing virtual Council meetings to occur when required to adhere to Victorian legislation.

At that meeting, Council also resolved to take a further look at the Governance Rules to incorporate other necessary administrative changes and respond to community feedback which was received during consultation undertaken on the rules in 2022.

Council has now incorporated all the proposed changes and the revised draft Governance Rules were adopted for public exhibition on Tuesday 21 February 2023 at a Council Meeting.

Some of the changes related to the Election Period Policy as well as updates that respond to community feedback relating to e-petitions, clarity around formal objections and rules regarding the grounds a Notice of Motion can be rejected.

Residents can view the draft Governance Rules, as well as the summary of changes, on Casey Conversations and have their say until 5.00 pm on Friday 24 March 2023.

To make a submission visit the Proposed Governance Rules page on Casey Conversations.
