Supporting and entertaining young people in Casey

Thumbnail

There are so many excellent services, events and programs for young people in the City of Casey, thanks to our youth information centres and our Youth Services team. Check out some of the free or low-cost activities and programs on offer.

Youth events and programs

The Youth team runs a variety of events and programs for young people right throughout the year. Check out these opportunities to get creative, make new friends and get out and about.

Teen school holiday fun

In the school holidays, the Casey Teenage School Holiday Program offers a packed timetable of free and inexpensive activities for young people aged 10-17 years. Activities planned for the upcoming Autumn school holidays include a trip to Healesville Sanctuary, ‘splat ball’, ‘movie madness’ and ‘Mexican Fiesta’ cooking class. Learn more about the program here.

Victorian Youth Week

This April, during Victorian Youth Week 2020, Bunjil Place will screen a selection of short screen works made by Casey youth on the big screen. Budding producers aged 12-25 are invited to upload their short films, documentaries, animations, music videos and video art.

Youth information centres

Council’s youth information centres are open all year round and provide a safe, supervised space for young people aged 10-25 to socialise, access services and find information on everything from health issues to education pathways.

Inside there’s plenty to keep young people entertained: iPads, Play Station 4, games, table tennis, and at the Narre Warren centre there’s also a pool table and outdoor basketball ring for those who like to stay active.

Each centre is supervised by at least two youth workers who can assist young people, parents, caregivers, and professional service providers with information, referrals and support about local services and current issues facing young people.

Counselling and support services

At the youth centres, we offer free, confidential counselling services for young people aged 10-25.

We also support parents and carers of young people who are experiencing difficulties or concerned about their child’s mental wellbeing.

Locations

There are three youth information centres across the City of Casey and the Casey 360 mobile youth information centre that visits local schools and events.

Find them at:

  • 52 Webb Street, Narre Warren
  • Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre, and
  • 22-26 Stuart Avenue, Hampton Park
