Seven ways to experience the Archibald Prize in the school holidays

Young Archies drawing

Celebrate spring and the school holidays this September and experience the Archibald Prize 2022 at Bunjil Place through a series of workshops and activities specially created for the young (and young at heart).

Make art to take home, sing songs and listen to stories, or share a stunning high tea with family at Bunjil Place, celebrating the popular Archibald Prize at its only Victorian location.

Young Archie Making Hub
Daily until 14 October. Free.

Designed as a space for creative types of all ages, the Making Hub invites creative exploration through activities and ideas. Archibald Prize 2022 winner Blak Douglas has created Anatomy of a Cloud, a making activity for all to enjoy while visiting the Archibald Prize.

Young Archies at Bunjil Place

The Young Archies celebrate our youngest creatives aged 5-18 years. From over 200 applications from across Victoria, 58 young artists are now showcased in this very special free exhibition to align with the Archibald Prize at Bunjil Place.

Art Story and Rhyme Time
Mondays at 11 am until 10 October. Bookings essential.

Bring your creativity as we share stories and craft activities in Art Story and Rhyme Time every Monday throughout the Archibald Prize. Children from the age of three can enjoy songs, rhymes and stories inspired by colour, design and famous artists. Complete your art adventure at the Making Hub in the Bunjil Place Studio.

School Holiday Workshop: Abstract Portrait
Tuesday 20 & Tuesday 27 September. Bookings essential. All materials provided.

Using cardboard, children aged 7+ are encouraged to explore texture, colour and composition to create their own abstract colourful portrait to take home and keep in this special Archibald Prize-inspired workshop.

Quiet Hour at Archibald Prize
Tuesday 20 September

Enjoy a low-sensory experience at the Archibald Prize 2022 and take advantage of a quiet space. We’re reducing the usual noises and distractions in our Gallery so you can enjoy a little extra quiet time to explore at your leisure.

Robert Gordon High Tea

Enhance your visit to the Archibald Prize 2022 with a delightful high tea experience at the Robert Gordon Tea Room. Treat yourself (and your loved ones) to a selection of sweet and savoury treats enjoyed with tea or coffee from the glorious cup of local craft masters Robert Gordon Pottery.
