Connected Libraries have opened a library lounge at Cranbourne West Community Hub. Located at 4 Flicka Boulevard in Cranbourne West, library members can:
- Borrow, return and renew items
- Access free Wi-Fi and public computers
- Enjoy regular library programs for children and adults
- Study, work or relax.
The library lounge is open Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM said Council is excited to support Connected Libraries as they expand their services into the Cranbourne West Community Hub, one of Casey’s busiest community spaces.
“The launch of this latest initiative will see the hub’s various users including students, remote workers and families have greater access to library services right at their fingertips,” she said.
“On behalf of Council, we greatly value the opportunity Connected Libraries are providing to our expanding community in Cranbourne West and look forward to seeing how community members utilise the lounge space.”
Library members will also be able to collect and return books anytime at the library lockers, which are located at the rear of the building. There are also 24/7 library lockers located in Clyde North at Manna Gum Family and Community Centre and Orana Community.
Non-members will be able to sign up at the lounge with the assistance of Connected Libraries or City of Casey staff and use the services. Library membership is free.
Family fun day
To celebrate the opening of the new library lounge, a family fun day will be held on Saturday 17 February from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm.
There will be lots of free activities, including a giant bubble performer, live performances, story times, an animal petting zoo and the ever-popular face painting. There will also be a sausage sizzle and lots of giveaways throughout the day. This is a free event and no bookings are required.
