The City of Casey has welcomed $480,000 in funding from the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action to construct a new dog park at Essex Park Drive Reserve in Endeavour Hills.
The funding, which is part of State Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program, will be used for the design and delivery of the first-ever dog park in Endeavour Hills.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM thanked the State Government for its investment in providing more open spaces for families and their pets to play and exercise.
“I cannot wait to see the benefits this new facility will bring pet owners in Endeavour Hills,” Ms Duff said.
“Council is committed to providing high quality dog friendly spaces across the municipality and acknowledges the important role they play in providing a safe space for both animals and owners to use.”
Earlier this year, Council presented the local community with three options for the preferred location of the dog park. Essex Park Drive Reserve received the most votes, followed by Clifton Way Reserve and Haverstock Hill Close Reserve.
“As part of the consultation, we also asked residents what elements they would like to see incorporated into the design of the dog park. The most popular elements were adequate fencing, a bin and dog bag dispenser, a drinking fountain and seating,”Ms Duff said.
“This feedback will help inform the design of the dog park, which will be presented to the community in early 2025 via Casey Conversations.”
