The City of Casey launches discounted cat desexing program

The City of Casey, in collaboration with the National Desexing Network (NDN) and participating vet clinics, has launched a new initiative aimed at promoting responsible cat ownership and reducing the number of unwanted cats in the community.

Through this program, eligible residents of Casey will have access to heavily discounted cat desexing and microchipping services.

Unwanted litters of kittens can pose significant challenges for both the cats themselves and the community. To address this issue, the Council is offering residents with pensions or healthcare cards the opportunity to desex their cats at a significantly reduced cost. Male cat desexing will be available for $60, while the cost for female cat desexing is $100. In addition, residents can have their cats microchipped as well for $15 (with desexing).

To determine eligibility and receive the desexing voucher, residents are encouraged to call the National Desexing Network at 1300 368 992. Once deemed eligible, individuals can then contact a participating vet clinic to schedule an appointment for the procedure. It is important to note that these vouchers are not available online and must be obtained through the National Desexing Network.

By offering this discounted cat desexing program, Council aims to make it more accessible for residents to be responsible cat owners. This program not only prevents unwanted litters but also contributes to the overall welfare of cats in our community.

Conditions and eligibility criteria apply, and the availability of the program is subject to Council funding. The program will continue only while funding lasts, so residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity promptly.

For more information about the program and to learn about the eligibility requirements, please visit the National Desexing Network's website.

Council, in collaboration with the National Desexing Network, remains committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and creating a safer and healthier environment for both cats and the community.
