Food Safety Programs

The DHHS website contains a PDF version of the Food Safety Program template version 1.3, as well as other useful food safety information. This template is also available from the Victorian Government's Foodsmart website. Visitors to this website can complete their own food safety program and email it to us.

Casey's Environmental Health team is committed to working with the local food industry to ensure all food premises comply with the Food Act 1984.

Food Safety Supervisor

If you run a class 1, 2 or 3A food business, you must ensure that you have a Food Safety Supervisor.

A Food Safety Supervisor:

  • Knows how to recognise, prevent and lessen the hazards associated with food handling at your premises
  • Has met an appropriate food safety competency standard for your type of food premises through a Registered Training Organisation
  • Has the ability and authority to supervise other people handling food at your premises and ensure that food handling is done safely

Class 3 and 4 food premises do not need to have a Food Safety Supervisor. However, they must ensure that all staff working at the premises have skills and knowledge to safely handle food.

For more information please see Food Safety Supervisors.
