New Communities

Strengthening the New Communities Program

family

The Strengthening New Communities Program is a series of pop-up activities for residents living in emerging communities. It gives the community a chance to get out in their local area and connect. They can find out more about Council services and get to know their neighbours and the local community.

Community leadership

The Community Strengthening Team is offering free leadership support. It’s aimed at anyone who has a passion for helping their local community. Please contact the Coordinator Strengthening Communities for further details on 9705 5200.

Community gardens

Community gardens are places to come together to garden and grow food in your community. This provides a chance to get to know the environment and create social connections.

You can watch the video Getting Your Hands Dirty to see directly what goes on or view the Communities Gardens Policy to find out how to get involved.

For more information, please contact us or the Coordinator Strengthening Communities.

Casey’s Global Friendships

The idea of Casey’s Global Friendships came from the community as a unique way to recognise Casey’s cultural diversity. It features several plaques contributed by our multicultural communities. Each plaque bears a message of friendship and goodwill. It's a symbol of a vibrant and diverse city.

Casey’s Global Friendships aims to:

  • Celebrate and acknowledge Casey’s diversity and friendship/sister city relationships.
  • Recognise the contribution of various cultural/ethnic communities that have settled in Casey.
  • Promote friendship and goodwill between Casey’s diverse cultural groups.
  • Recognise community organisations committed to cultural inclusiveness and global friendship.
  • Provide a meeting place for multicultural ceremonies, special occasions and national events.
