To celebrate National Recycling Week from 7-13 November, the City of Casey has some fantastic free events to help you declutter your home and get some great tips on how to recycle right.
This year’s theme is Waste isn’t waste until it is wasted, and our focus is on unwanted textiles which makes up a significant portion of our landfill and is a major contaminant in our recycling.
Textiles such as clothes and shoes can’t be recycled as part of your fortnightly kerbside collection, but we’ve partnered with Tread Lightly and Upparel for a free drop-off event to help Casey residents responsibly dispose of unwanted items.
On Saturday 12 November, bag up your used sneakers, clothing and sheets and drop them off at the Lynbrook Community Centre from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.
Please note, items should be clean and dry – stains are no problem but mouldy or dirty items will not be accepted. We also can’t accept doonas or pillows. To find out more, check the list of acceptable items or to book your timeslot check our website.

There will also be a free recycling fun day at Bunjil Place on Tuesday 8 November from 2.00 pm – 6.00 pm, with face painting, badge making, and kids can get their photo taken in the driver’s seat of a real recycling truck. No bookings are required for this event.
National Recycling Week was founded in 1996 as an opportunity for Australians to improve their recycling knowledge and build better recycling habits, helping all Australians take waste and recycling issues into their own hands.
