How we created the new Local Law

Throughout 2025, Council conducted a comprehensive review of our Community Local Law.

We ran a major engagement program where more than 1,000 community members told us what they wanted to see in an updated Local Law. We also looked at how other councils manage similar issues to make sure our approach is fair, balanced and consistent.

A draft version was then released, shaped by community feedback, and we invited the community to have their say again.

The final Casey Community Local Law 2025 was adopted at the December Council Meeting and came into effect in March 2026.

Community feedback played a key role in shaping the new Local Law, helping us make sure it reflects what matters most to our diverse community.
