The program consists of the following activities:
Eco Tour
- Participate in a guided farm tour to explore the farm's environmentally friendly features!
- Learn about the ways in which Myuna Farm works to mitigate its environmental impact and reduce its carbon footprint.
- Discuss what actions could be taken at home or school to improve sustainability outcomes!
Wetlands Biodiversity
- Catch the train down to the wetlands and assess the health of the ecosystem by participating in a hands-on netting activity searching for macroinvertebrates.
- Examine human impacts on the wetlands and discuss wetlands conservation and the importance of maintaining habitat for biodiversity
Green Groceries
- Discover how our food choices can have a range of environmental and ethical implications.
- Discover the simple adjustments you can make at home to minimise your personal environmental impact.
Soil Health
- Explore the significance of soil structure and its impact on food production and environmental sustainability, including its role in mitigating climate change.
- Conduct a hands-on analysis of soil types.
- Find out about composting at home, the environmental benefits and how the composting cycle works to return nutrients back into the land!
Duration
The program runs from 10 am to 2 pm and can be scheduled to accommodate your group’s needs.
Costs
- Each student: $17.00
- Adults are free at a ratio of 1 to 5. Additional adults: $12.00 each
A minimum payment of 18 students applies, even if fewer than 18 students attend.
Prices include GST.
Maximum group size
For the Years 7 – 12 program, we can accommodate a maximum of 2 groups per day with up to 26 students per group.
