History
Established in the 1990s, the Myuna Farm Community Gardens are area comprising of individual plots of land available to rent by City of Casey residents for growing produce. Community gardens can be found throughout Casey and Australia wide as they provide many benefits to community. These mainly relate to positive health, environmental and social outcomes.
The Myuna Farm garden plots are also used for educational purposes. Depending on the program, school students are given the opportunity to explore the space, learning about how to grow produce and where their food comes from!
What's growing
Being located alongside Dandenong Creek, the gardeners benefit from very fertile soil which is great for produce gardening! With seasonal variation, you can find anything growing, from garlic to cucumber, edible flowers and everything in between!
Cultural diversity is celebrated within the Myuna Farm community gardens, this has led to a unique variety of plants being grown and much knowledge being shared among gardeners. Some of our dedicated gardeners have been maintaining their plot of land continuously for nearly 30 years, producing beautiful chemical free, organic vegies to share with family and friends!
