The Expression of Interest stage is where families submit a form for their child to attend kindergarten.

- When to apply for kindergarten
A child can only attend the 3‑year‑old kindergarten program once they have turned three years old.
Child's date of birth 3-year-old eligible year 4-year-old eligible year 1 May 2021 – 30 April 2022 2026 1 May 2022 – 30 April 2023 2026 2027 1 May 2023 – 30 April 2024 2027 2028 Expressions of Interest are open from February to June of the year before a child will start kindergarten.
We do not accept Expressions of Interest before February, as this does not increase the chances of being offered a place.
Families who submit an Expression of Interest will be contacted in June once the timetable is available. Families will then be asked to submit a registration and list their preferred kindergartens and sessions for the following year.
Registrations received before offers begin will be considered in the first round. Registrations received after that will be marked ‘late’ and considered in future offer rounds.
- Choosing kindergartens
You can list up to three kindergartens in your Expression of Interest.
Keep in mind:
- Kindergarten is not compulsory.
- List all sessions you are willing to consider at all of your preferred kindergartens.
- Listing only one kindergarten does not increase the likelihood of being offered a place.
- Kindergartens are not zoned and living nearby does not guarantee a place.
- Enrolment in a 3‑year‑old kindergarten does not guarantee a 4‑year‑old place at the same kindergarten.
- Attending a 3‑year‑old kindergarten within a City of Casey CRES does not guarantee a 4‑year‑old place at the same kindergarten.

- Submit an expression of interest for kindergarten
Expression of Interest opening dates have changed from January to 9 February 2026.
Submitting an Expression of Interest (February to June)
With a valid email address, you can submit your child’s details for free using our online system EnrolNow.
Expressions of Interest for the following year can be submitted from February to June.
- A separate online form must be completed for 3‑year‑old and 4‑year‑old kindergarten.
- You can only submit an Expression of Interest in the year before your child will attend.

- Proof of birth (passport, birth certificate, or Medicare Immunisation History Statement)
- Concession card (if applicable)
- Refugee/Asylum Seeker or Humanitarian Visa (if applicable)

To update your information, email kinderenrolment@casey.vic.gov.au with:
- Your child’s full name
- Date of birth
- The details you want to update
- Key dates
Timeframe Activity February to June Submit your expression of interest for kindergarten. June onwards Registration period opens for families who submitted an expression of interest and for new registrations. You’ll be asked to confirm or update your preferred kindergartens and nominate your preferred sessions. From August Kindergarten offers begin. Every effort is made to place your child at the same service for 4-year-old kindergarten, but this cannot be guaranteed. November to December Enrolment into kindergarten — families finalise enrolments with their allocated service. End of January Kindergarten program begins for the new school year.
What’s next?
Once the timetable is available, we’ll contact families who completed an Expression of Interest. You’ll be asked to register and list your preferred kindergartens and session times.
