The problem with plastics
- Single-use plastic items make up about one third of the volume of Victoria’s litter.
- Plastic pollution harms our health and environment and is expensive to clean up.
- Many single-use plastic items are difficult and expensive to recycle.
- They are used for an average of 15 minutes but take centuries to break down.
Avoid single use items
Q: What is better than reusing or recycling an item?
A: Avoiding it in the first place.
Ask yourself, do you need it? And if the answer is no, then avoid it.
