High Mass Limit Consent

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is Australia’s national authority for heavy vehicle regulation under the Heavy Vehicle National Law.

The NHVR oversees compliance, safety, and road access for heavy vehicles operating across the country.

In certain situations, the City of Casey manages heavy vehicle access directly, outside of the NHVR approval process.

When Council Can Provide Access

Council will assess requests and issue access letters when:

  • The vehicle weighs between 8 and 42.5 tonnes and needs to travel on a Council signposted load limited road.
  • The vehicle does not meet the requirements for NHVR consent.

How to Apply

To request consent to access a load-restricted road outside NHVR requirements:

Apply for high mass limit consent
