Pay your rates notice

There are a couple of ways to pay your rates, depending on your budget preference. You can find the amounts owing, due dates and payment options on your rates notice, which you can expect to receive by the end of August each year.

Payment is due by 16 February 2026 if you wish to pay your 2025/26 rates in full.

Pay your rates in 4 instalments

To pay by quarterly instalments, you must pay your 1st instalment by 30 September 2025. If you miss your first instalment, you will need to pay your rates in full by 16 February 2026.

Missed instalment payments

  • If you miss a payment, please pay it as soon as possible to avoid being charged interest.
  • If you miss your first instalment, you will need to pay your rates in full by 16 February 2026.
  • To help minimise interest charges, please make any missed payments as soon as possible. Any unpaid amounts, along with any accrued interest, will be added to your next instalment.
  • Our Rate Payment and Financial Hardship Policy for residents having difficulty paying their rates provide the option to apply for an extension or rates payment plan.

Other payment methods

Phone
Pay via SecurePay or by phone using a Visa or Mastercard. You will need the reference number from your rates notice (next to the BPAY logo on your rates notice).

Call 1300 665 200 (24 hours a day).

BPAY

  • Log onto your online banking site
  • Enter the biller code and reference number (next to the BPAY logo on your rates notice)
  • Enter the amount due

Post office
To pay your rates notice via Australia Post by:

In person
You can pay in person at one of our customer service centres. We accept:

  • Cash
  • Cheque
  • Money order
  • EFTPOS (no extra cash available)

Mail
Post a cheque (cash is only accepted in person) of your instalment or full payment to:

Please allow enough time for delivery to avoid any penalty for late payment.

Direct debit (9 instalments)

Direct debit applications for 2025/26 are now closed.

You can also apply to pay over 9 instalments via direct debit. The first debit will be made on 28 September, followed by monthly intervals thereafter. To learn more information about this type of arrangement, read our Direct Debit Service Agreement.

What happens after you apply for a direct debit option?

If your arrangement is approved, we will send you a confirmation letter in the mail within 5-10 working days. This letter will contain your payment schedule and the bank details you nominated. Please review these details to ensure we have the correct information.

Update bank details or cancel a direct debit arrangement

If you need to update your banking details while on a direct debit plan, you can nominate a different account by updating and returning the Direct Debit Application form.
