Under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, the following types of prescribed accommodation businesses need to register with Council:
- Residential accommodation (including bed and breakfast premises)
- Hotels and motels
- Hostels
- Student dormitories
- Holiday camps
- Rooming houses - you must also apply for a licence via Consumer Affairs Victoria.

Register your business
Use the following online form to register your prescribed accommodation business. We will then contact you to arrange the next steps, including payment of fees and a property inspection.
Once approved, your registration will be issued within five working days.
