Endeavour Hills Library turns over a page

The City of Casey has celebrated a new chapter for the Endeavour Hills Library following the completion of a $114,000 renewal project at the facility.

Earlier this year works were completed on a project jointly funded by Council and the State Government which delivered:

  • A more welcoming, fully accessible service desk and self-check station
  • A dedicated meeting room for study and group use
  • Re-purposed floor space after the removal of an old, indoor garden to create extra room for activities and programs.

City of Casey Director Community Life Callum Pattie was joined by Narre Warren North MP Belinda Wilson, Connected Libraries CEO Beth Luppino and other members of the Endeavour Hills library on Wednesday 7 June to celebrate the project’s completion.

"We wanted to create a more welcoming, inclusive and creative space for all and we’re hearing our community are loving the improvements so far,” Mr Pattie said.

"Students and community groups are using the new meeting room, recently decked out with furniture from Connected Libraries’ partner - Federation Uni. Our youngest community members are loving listening to stories and songs from our wonderful librarians in the newly defined children’s area and the new health and wellbeing corner and gaming zone are being well used.

"Our whole community can easily chat with library staff at the new service counter, helping them to access the information they want.”

This project was made possible thanks to a $54,000 grant from the State Government through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, with Council funding the remaining $60,000.

Ms Luppino thanked the State Government and Council for the funding to renew and reimagine Endeavour Hills Library.

“Victorians of all ages rely on their public library for free and universal access to resources that improve their literacy, wellbeing and connectedness,” she said.

“Investment such as the State Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure grants delivered in partnership with our local Council is a direct investment in stronger and more resilient communities.”
