Beat the Flu – Flu season is coming

Thumbnail

The outlook for the flu season is not great. Victoria has already seen more than twice the number of flu cases compared to the same period last year.

For children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with a weakened immune system, the flu can have serious and devastating outcomes. For others being ill can mean time off work and can impact running the household.

Who can access a free vaccine?

The flu vaccine is free if it is given at Council immunisation sessions or at a doctor’s clinic for:

•    Children six months to five years
•    People over 65 years
•    Pregnant women
•    Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

For everyone else the flu vaccine can be purchased and given at a doctor’s clinic or selected pharmacies.

No booking is required. Get immunised in April and May in readiness for the flu season.
