Bunjil Place Plaza buzzed with energy on Saturday night as Open Space launched, drawing residents of all ages to a relaxed, music-filled evening under perfect summer skies.

Families and friends rolled out picnic rugs, shared dinners and soaked up the atmosphere as live performances transformed the plaza into a vibrant outdoor gathering space.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said the opening night perfectly captured what Open Space is all about.

“Saturday night was everything we hoped Open Space would be – welcoming and full of connection.  It was fantastic to see so many residents taking advantage of a beautiful summer evening, bringing their families and friends, sharing food and enjoying incredible live music together in the heart of Casey," Cr Koomen said.

“To deliver an event of this quality, completely free and accessible to everyone, is something Council is incredibly proud of. If the first night is anything to go by, Open Space is going to be a standout highlight of the summer.”

Rising star Canisha opened the night with soulful, heartfelt songs, followed by Paulo Almeida and his band, whose island-inspired reggae rhythms, had the crowd swaying.

The highlight of the evening was a rare collaboration between Kutcha Edwards and Cash Savage and the Last Drinks. Kutcha’s powerful songs of identity, survival and hope were reimagined with the band’s raw, high-energy sound, delivering a moving and electrifying performance that captivated the crowd.

Open Space continues every Saturday night from 6.00pm until 21 March 2026. Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic rug, enjoy the food trucks or pack their own dinner and settle in for a great night out under the stars.  Still to come Pseudo Echo, Andrew Swift, Cookin’ on Three Burners and so much more!

Open Space is free to attend, with no tickets required. For the full program and weekly lineup, visit https://www.bunjilplace.com.au/
