In October 2020, the Victorian Government introduced a temporary planning scheme exemption known as Clause 52.18. This clause was designed to support hospitality businesses during the COVID-19 recovery period by allowing them to operate with fewer planning requirements.
The Victorian Government has announced that these exemptions will expire on 12 October 2025. After this date, Victorian businesses who have been operating under this exemption may now need to apply for a planning permit to continue to operate.
Council will be informing known impacted businesses via letter in the coming weeks.
If your business is impacted, we encourage you to contact Council’s Business Concierge Team on 9705 5200 or businesspermits@casey.vic.gov.au to find out your specific requirements.
