Message from the Mayor: 18 March Council Meeting

Casey logo

Dear residents,

Our community’s safety and wellbeing are our top priority. Since our February council meeting was disrupted, we’ve been working closely with Victoria Police. Unfortunately, individuals are again
actively planning to disrupt the March Council Meeting. Following advice from Victoria Police, the difficult decision has been made to move our March Council meeting to an online-only format.

It's important to note, this is not a closed meeting. We will still openly discuss and decide on important council business, and our residents will be able to watch the live stream on our Facebook Page and YouTube channel.

As your new Councillors, we want to be able to have our Council Meetings in person and to have our community in the gallery, but our priority is the safety of everyone involved. We want council meetings to be open to the public and we’re hopeful that we can come together next month at Bunjil Place.

We want to reassure you that we are fully committed to listening and acting on behalf of our community. If you have a concern or question, please reach out to your Councillor or you can submit them through the Council website, and we will make sure they are answered at the council meeting.

On behalf of your new Councillors, we want to thank you for your understanding and support as we navigate these challenging circumstances. We remain focused on serving the community and ensuring that our council meetings are safe, inclusive, and accessible to all.

Cr Stefan Koomen
Mayor, City of Casey
