The Casey Young Writer's Festival brings you an awesome opportunity to learn from an ABC producer about how to tell your story for radio and TV.

At the same time, get some tips on how to create a great entry to blitz the ABC’s amazing Takeover Melbourne Competition.

Online storytelling workshops

It's not always easy to write a story about ourselves. Sometimes we don't know what we want to talk about, or we don't know how to start. As part of Casey Young Writer's Festival and the Takeover Melbourne project, an ABC producer takes you through the storytelling process, from you helping find your own unique story to then getting your thoughts and ideas on paper. The workshop also includes videos of true stories shared by young people and plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.

These workshops will take place on Wednesday 10 June and 17 June from 4.00 - 5.30 pm. There are also other online workshops happening during the Casey Young Writer's Festival, giving you the chance to upskill in writing hip-hop/rap, spoken word and creative writing formats.

Book online now, it’s free.

Takeover Melbourne competition

Once you have completed the storytelling workshop, you’ll be set to share your story with the rest of Australia! The ABC is calling on young people aged 12-18 to share a story about their life and submit it to the Takeover Melbourne Competition. Competition winners will work with ABC producers to have their story featured on ABC TV, radio or online. Entries must be a true story about an aspect of the author's life.

ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED.
