Expressions of interest invited for artist residency in the heart of Narre Warren

Narre Warren Hall

The City of Casey has an exciting opportunity for up and coming artists and creatives across the southeast to take their practice to the next level and be part of Casey’s newest creative space.

The Emerging Artist Creative Hub (The Hub) will be a dedicated space for creatives to develop their art practice, collaborate with peers and share skills and resources. The space will also provide resident artists the opportunity to put on small-scale exhibitions and projects, public programs and other outdoor activations.

The Hub will be located at the Narre Warren Mechanics Institute. A series of upgrade works will commence shortly at the site to create additional creative workspaces to meet the needs of its various future tenants.

“We’re so pleased to be able to take one of our under-utilised facilities in the centre of Narre Warren and transform it into a dedicated space for our creative community to explore their art further,” said City of Casey Chair of Administrators, Noelene Duff.

“The Hub is an exciting, first of its kind offering by Council, allowing tenants to flourish in their practice in an accessible and collaborative space. We invite applicants who may be considering broadening their practice into Casey to check out the eligibility and get in touch with Council to learn more about this opportunity.”

Who can apply:
The program is currently open for expressions of interests from eligible applicants seeking a one-year tenancy arrangement at The Hub.

Eligible applicants include artists and creatives who are in early stages of their career and/or have an emerging practice. Small and micro-organisations, who support emerging creative practice are also eligible to apply.

The full eligibility criteria and guidelines are available on Council’s website.

How to apply:
Prior to submitting an expression of interest, applicants are asked to attend a site visit across three facilitated sessions in February. To arrange a visit, applicants can email creativespaces@casey.vic.gov.au.

Expression of interest applications are submitted via the SmartyGrants platform and are open until midnight Sunday 3 March 2024.
