Customer Service Centres and Bunjil Place to Temporarily Close

The City of Casey will be complying with new restrictions announced by the Prime Minister today, including the ban on non-essential gatherings of 100 people or more in indoor spaces and 500 people in outdoor areas, which became effective immediately.

As a result of these new restrictions, and to ensure the health and safety of our employees, we have decided to temporarily close our face-to-face customer service centres.

At 5.00 pm today (18 March 2020), our customer service centres located at the Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre and Bunjil Place will temporarily close until further notice.

Bunjil Place (including the library) will also close temporarily as a protective measure against the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

City of Casey interim Administrator Noelene Duff said these measures have been taken to ensure that we are looking out for the whole of our community including those most vulnerable to this virus whilst protecting our employees and ensuring that vital services can continue to be provided.

“I want to stress to the community that the City of Casey is still operating. You will continue to see our officers continuing to deliver services in our communities,” Ms Duff said.

Over the past few weeks, attendance at Casey’s customer service centres has steadily declined.

City of Casey CEO Glenn Patterson said we have seen a noticeable difference during February and March, with lower than normal attendance numbers at our customer service centres, during what is normally a busy period with rates payments and animal registration renewals due.

“Whilst we understand that many people do like to visit us at our face-to-face counters in the interest of public health, we have decided to temporarily close these centres,” said Mr Patterson.

“Our essential services continue to operate as normal. If changes occur to our essential services, our clients will be notified directly.”

If residents need to make payments, we ask that you now contact us via telephone to organise payments or visit our make a payment page.
